Course Overview

Our Data Analyst Skills Bootcamp offers valuable benefits to job seekers, career changers, employees, and self-employed professionals who work with data regularly. Unlike some other providers, we keep our class sizes small and typically have only 12 participants. This means you can get to know other attendees, learn from each other and have sufficient time for questions and answers.

Duration:60 hours over 10 weeks
Timings:Runs one day a week 9am until 4.30pm for 10 weeks. Our courses are broken up with regular breaks

Qualifications and Level:Data Analyst Skills Bootcamp certificate upon completion from Fareport Training & Hampshire County Council
Entry requirements:

Candidates must live in Hampshire, be aged 19 or older on 31st August 2025, be a sole trader, freelancer, business owner, employed or unemployed, have the right to work in the UK, and have maintained UK residency for the last 3 years. They must also be enthusiastic about data analysis and be committed to developing their skills through the bootcamp. Ideally, candidates should be relatively new to the world of data analytics with no other technical qualifications. 

Cost:If you are a Hampshire-based sole trader, freelancer, business owner without employees or unemployed, the course (worth £2,740) is fully funded by Hampshire County Council (HCC). If you have 1-250 employees your employer must contribute 10% (£274) per employee and the other 90% is funded by HCC. If you have 250+ employees, your employer must contribute 30% (£822) per employee, with the remaining 70% funded by HCC. Please note funding is subject to full eligibility checks.

Week 1 - Introduction to Data Analytics


Our first week provides an overview of data analytics, discussing its importance and application across various industries. Students will learn about the fundamental concepts and methodologies used in data analytics.

Week 2 - Python For Data Analytics


Week 2 provides an accessible introduction to Python as a tool for data analysis. Learners develop foundational coding skills including variables, data types, and loops, and are introduced to Python libraries such as Pandas and NumPy for working with data sets efficiently.

Week 3 - Databases


Learners explore how data is stored, organised, and retrieved using databases. They learn the structure of relational databases, understand tables, fields, and relationships, and begin using SQL to extract, filter, and manipulate data.

Week 4 - Statistics


An introduction to key statistical concepts including averages, spread, correlation, and probability. Learners develop an understanding of how statistics help identify trends and inform business decisions, with a focus on interpreting and applying statistical outputs.

Week 5 - Data Pre-Processing


This week focuses on preparing raw data for analysis. Learners cover essential techniques including data cleaning, dealing with missing or duplicate values, data transformation, and formatting. The goal is to ensure datasets are accurate and analysis-ready.

Week 6 - Data Visualisation


This week focuses on how to communicate data effectively using visual tools. Learners explore different types of charts and graphs, principles of good visual design, and tools like Power BI to create dashboards that help stakeholders interpret data easily.

Week 7 - Exploratory Data Analysis


Learners dive into exploring data sets to uncover underlying patterns, trends, and relationships. They use statistical summaries and visualisation techniques to generate hypotheses and gain insights without drawing final conclusions, laying the groundwork for deeper analysis.

Week 8 - Data Reporting & Communication


This week focuses on how to present data-driven insights clearly and persuasively. Learners build skills in creating reports, structuring presentations, and using visual and narrative techniques to communicate findings to stakeholders in a compelling and accessible way.

Week 9 - Professional Skills


Week 9 focusses on the people/soft skills required by a data analytics professional. Time is taken to describe the software tools needed to support these skills/attributes

The programme concludes with a focus on responsible data use, covering key concepts in data security, privacy, and ethical considerations like GDPR and bias. Learners reflect on their progress, consolidate their learning, and prepare for next steps in their data careers.
