Duration:60 hours learning over 10 weeks
Timings:The Bootcamp runs one day a week, typically from 9:30am to 4:30pm, across a 10-week period. Each day includes regular breaks and time set aside for lunch.
Study Modes:Fully online, this group-based training & coaching experience includes a mix of dynamic, hands-on activities designed to keep you engaged and actively involved.
Qualifications and Level:Work towards CompTIA Security+ industry recognised accreditation. Certificate of completion from Fareport Training & The Skills and Business Hub 
Entry requirements:

To apply, you must be a resident of Berkshire and at least 19 years old by the 31st of August 2025. The Bootcamp is open to a wide range of individuals, including employed professionals, sole traders, freelancers, business owners and those who are unemployed or looking to change careers. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK and have lived in the country continuously for the past three years.

A keen interest in Cyber Security and a strong dedication to building your skills through the programme is essential.

Cost:If you're located in Berkshire and are a sole trader, freelancer, unemployed, or operate a business with no staff, you could qualify for full funding of the course (worth £3,000), fully subsidised by The Skills and Business Hub. For small to medium-sized businesses (1–250 employees), a 10% employer contribution is required (£300 per participant), with the remaining 90% covered by The Skills and Business Hub. Larger companies with more than 250 employees are asked to contribute 30% (£900 per participant), while the remaining 70% is funded by The Skills and Business Hub. Please note, all funding support is dependent on meeting the full eligibility criteria.

Module 1: Introduction to Cyber Security


This module introduces the core principles of Cyber Security, exploring why it’s essential in today’s digital world. You’ll gain an understanding of common cyber threats – including phishing, malware, and ransomware – while also learning about the ethical and legal considerations that underpin responsible cyber practices.

Module 2: Basic Networking Concepts 


In this module, you’ll build foundational knowledge of how networks operate, including key protocols like IP, TCP/IP, and DNS. You’ll also explore the roles of firewalls and VPNs in securing connections, along with an introduction to wireless security essentials.

This module delves into the various types of cyber threats, including viruses, worms, and trojans. You’ll also examine how social engineering tactics are used to exploit human behaviour, and learn how to identify and address vulnerabilities within digital systems.

In this module, you’ll explore practical techniques for safeguarding both personal and organisational data. Topics include the basics of encryption and cryptography, creating strong password protocols, and adopting safe browsing habits alongside secure communication tools to reduce risk and enhance privacy.

This module focuses on securing various operating systems through correct configuration and maintenance. You’ll learn how to manage security settings, apply software patches and updates effectively, and ensure the safe installation and use of applications to minimise vulnerabilities.

To wrap up, learners will deliver a short presentation showcasing what they’ve learnt and how they plan to apply their new skills.
